| May 14th | Davis' revised May budget plan included cuts to transportation projects; overall cuts reduced. | More Info |
Governor Davis released his new May Budget proposal. According to the Legislative Analysts Office, he reduced the amount of cuts he proposed in January by an estimated $207 million. This money will go back to projects in his Traffic Congestion Relief Plan (TCRP). He proposed to cut approximately $1.5 billion from transportation projects, by redirecting transportation funds to the General Fund.
Randy Rentschler of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission said many projects currently under construction would probably continue. However, he said many new projects - including some Davis recently announced - would be put on hold if the proposed cuts are approved.
